ST. CLOUD — Two area health care providers are ringing in the new year with a new shared location.
Simplicity Health, an independent primary care clinic established by Dr. Julie Anderson in 2018, is moving into a new location in south St. Cloud at 3290 42nd Ave. S. 360 Chiropractic, a Sartell business owned by Dr. Jon Anderson, will use part of the new build as another location in the metro area. The two Dr. Andersons are sister- and brother-in-law.
The more than $2 million project began construction in July and is set to be completed and open in late January. Most of the more than 8,000 square feet (approximately 80%) will be for Simplicity Health, which Julie Anderson said outgrew its previous location on Northway Drive.
“It was always my intention to go back to the south side, where I had been caring for patients since 2004,” Julie Anderson said.
Before opening Simplicity Health, she practiced with St. Cloud Medical Group for 13 years. She said she’s watched the south side grow and develop but sees limited health care options for those living there.
“We had always kind of talked about being in the same area and … the timing was right for both of us,” Julie Anderson said.
From Jon Anderson’s perspective, expanding into another space on the south side is “a perfect fit.” 360 Chiropractic sees patients out of its Sartell location for about 55 hours a week. The future south side location will see patients for about 26 hours a week, he said.
Julie Anderson said her practice and Jon Anderson’s practice share a lot of patients and have similar philosophies about a holistic care model. Jon Anderson said both practices are patient-first, and according to his sister-in-law, both know there are limitations to their professions and patients may benefit from other care.
“Chiropractic and medicine, they’re congruent, but they come from different ends sometimes,” he said. “If you can find a way of blending things together, because patients do that … really, if we can work together for the betterment of the patient, that’s what really what it comes behind.”
And if a brother- and sister-in-law can get along, Jon Anderson jokes, so can chiropractic and medical practitioners.
For Simplicity Health, the facility marks an expansion in services as well: full lab capabilities and X-ray imaging. There will be opportunities for tele-mental health care, in which patients can come to the facility and see a provider remotely, and a sleep specialist.
Julie Anderson said it’s also her goal in 2021 to provide urgent care.
For 360 Chiropractic, the second location will offer chiropractic services, massages and acupuncture.
Julie Anderson said both she and her brother-in-law care about providing lower-cost options for health care and to be transparent about the costs of health care.
“We’re ready to show that we can provide cost-effective, high-quality care,” Julie Anderson said.
